JESUS CHRIST MARKS THE NEW WAY!
The old approach to God was through daily/regular sacrifices for sin.
This meant that people were living constantly under the shadow of the guilt of personal sin and shame, perpetually separated from God and only approaching at a distance.
This is true for Hebrew and others alike.
Animal sacrifices were never able to take way sin, not even for Israel.
DVD ‘The God’s aren’t angry!’ By Rob Bell.
The new approach to God in Christ is through one sacrifice for sin, once and for all.
This means that we approach God in celebration and praise, not burdened by the guilt of sin but free to enjoy the loving and close relationship God intends for us to have with him, through the faithful obedience of His Son Jesus, Saviour/Christ.
This sacrifice is provided by God because it is He who wants this closeness of fellowship with you and I.
He even gives us His Holy Spirit, so that the relationship is live and switched on.
The expectation is that as we fall in love with God through Christ and willingly choose to live in obedience to Him. Then our lives are transformed as we enjoy his love and peace in our hearts daily without fear.
V22.Four conditions are given for drawing near to God:-
- A sincere heart.
- Full assurance of faith.
- Hearts sprinkled from a guilty conscience.
- Bodies washed with pure water, referring to inner cleansing.
What understanding of God’s grace and love for you are you working with?
· Are you choosing to hold on to guilt and to feel unworthy?
· Is your picture of God, someone who is waiting to punish you?
· Or are you so aware of His love for you that you just want to praise Him?
· Are you so aware of His love for you that you would rather go without some things, if it meant losing His peace within you.
