Isaiah 9v2-7                           Unto us a child is born

Titus 2v11-14                        Say No to ungodliness

Luke 2v1-14 (15-20)      The birth of Jesus.

She placed Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the Inn. v7.

God’s bias towards the Poor!

Jesus was born in an animal feeding trough!

Kings are born in Palaces.

An important person or a king would normally be given the best bed in the house.

How is it then that God gave Jesus, ‘King of Kings and Lord of Lord’s’ the lowliest place for a bed, a stable and even more lowly a manger/feeding trough for the animals in a stable?

Jesus is associated with the poor from birth to death.

Well it seems that it was God’s purpose to bring his Son to earth to show the way for the very poor people as well as the rich back to God.

Jesus was both born among the disadvantaged and died among the disadvantaged.

Isaiah 61v1.  Jer 22v16.  Zech 7v10.  2 Cor 8v9.

This tells us a lot about God’s love for us!

Don’t worry if you think that you are not very important because God loves you and you matter so much to him that he sent his Son to be like you.

All through Jesus’s life he expressed a bias towards the lowly in the community, those who were outcasts for a variety of reasons.

Look out for the poor and disadvantaged.

If God loves the disadvantaged so much that he sent his Son to associate with them,

then we too ought to have a special heart and concern for those who are disadvantaged in our community and in other countries.

Perhaps even at school and in the playground.   Prov 28v27.  Acts 10v4.

As Rich people we will be called to give account for the way we use our riches and the advantages we have in society.   Isaiah 10v2.

I notice that a lot of rich people in London and even Prince Andrew spent a night sleeping rough in the streets in England, to see what it feels like to have nothing.

Dedicate your life to a particular charity!

Perhaps at least one thing we can do is to pick out a particular charity or concern we have, and dedicate at least part of our lives to supporting the work that charity does among the disadvantaged.   Gal 2v9-10.

Ask God to share His heart for the disadvantaged, with you!
