Listening to God Course Lent 2011

DO YOU WANT TO

LEARN HOW TO

LISTEN TO GOD

IN YOUR LIFE?

We take you through four one hour sessions:-

·       Preparing

·       Engaging

·       Receiving

·       Reflecting

This is open to everyone who would like to be aware of God speaking into their own life.

You may have had a one off encounter with God but don’t know how to develop an ongoing conversation, or you may just feel the need to be hearing from God personally.

This course will teach you how to listen for God and how to respond.

God created us and is speaking into our lives all the time, all we need to do is learn how to listen.

There are four basic parts to this process of contemplative prayer. We are offering one set of sessions in the day time and one in the evening for those at work.

This is a very practical and natural way of recognising God’s ability to communicate with you, who he created, loves, and desires to have fellowship with.

He has been trying to get your attention and respond to his invitation to come closer to him.

Each session is less than an hour and will involve some simple basic teaching, a question and answer time and some practical time.

As in all things, as you practice you will become better and learn to recognise his gentle promptings more and more.

SESSION ONE:- Preparing.

Learning how to prepare yourself by calming your life down for a while and becoming queit and still in every way.

SESSION TWO:- Engaging.

Learning how to use God’s creation or God’s Word as a safe vehicle to be open to him.

SESSION THREE:- Receiving.

Learning how to respond and develop further what you are sensing. The art of conversation.

SESSION FOUR:- Reflecting.

Learning how to register what has happened for you and what to do next.
