Spiritual Growth

We use a variety of options to encourage people in their spiritual growth and understanding of their relationship with God from a Christian perspective.

The Christian Basics Course we use is the Alpha course, which helps people gain a good understanding of God's love for them personally, the role of Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit within the believer.

This course ideal for enquierers into the Christian Faith, those that have come back to Church after many years and those that have never undertaken any understanding of their faith before.

We also use this course to preapre people for Baptism, Renewal of baptismal vows and or Confirmation.

Basic Retreats are run at least annually for one day or an evening to introduce people to a variety of ways of prayer conversation with God, using scripture, creation (God's other book), and exploring God's communication through our mind/ imagination and feelings.  It is not suprising to understand that the God who created us can communicate with us in a large variety of ways if we are willing to be still and listen.

Daily Readings and quiet times. It is important to create spaces of quiet in the day to spend more specifically with God and being refreshed in our spirit. A busy routine is the most common cause of people feeling distant from God and often the first remedy is to find a daily quiet time.

We encourage Daily Bible Readings to accompany these quiet times as a means of focusing on scripture. The Word for Today is a good option or simply the daily lectionary printed in our News Sheet.

Home Groups/Fellowship Groups. We encourage everyone to join one of the small mid week groups for fellowship, pastoral support and sharing of faith experience in Christ. This is a healthy rounded way of growing in the Christian Fellowship and building relationships with other Christians and hearing their faith stories of their spiritual walk with God.
