Pastoral Care
- In 2004 I finished the three years
training for a Diploma of Counseling and am seconded to the parish for
completion of my practical hours.
-
- Counseling issues for adults include
grief, anger, depression, divorce, guilt etc and sharing your concerns
with a caring empathic listener may help you come to terms with changes in
your life and to move on.
-
- I am overseen by my
Tutor, Lex McMillan, and the Reverend Don Nicholas in the parish, as well
as having professional supervision. There is no set charge for 50 minute
sessions at the counseling room in the church hall, but a donation is
welcome to help with expenses.
-
- Phone Moya
Lethbridge on 367 0129 for an appointment to see if this will work for
you.
-
-
- The Ezee Meals programme was designed by
Des Britten, Wellington City Missioner to meet the needs of those people
who are looking for convenience meals, or have difficulty with shopping or
in preparing meals.
- The meals are frozen
and easily heated ready to eat. They are sold from St. Mary’s kitchen
every Wednesday and Friday morning from 10 am to 12 noon, by a group of
voluntary helpers either in the kitchen or delivering to customers.
- Every meal benefits
community services programmes, and is also a good form of outreach to the
community.
-
- The group are always
looking for extra helpers. Contact the Office on 368 5987

-
- We
welcome all those wishing to be married in the Christian Church according
to a biblical view of moral relationships.
-
- We
encourage your participation in a marriage preparation course to help you
build a strong and lasting relationship.
-
- We are
pleased to be able to consider the re-marriage of divorcees on the
understanding that the breakdown of the previous commitment in marriage
has been harmoniously resolved by all parties.
We often ask for a letter from the
previous partner as confirmation.
-
- We are
not able to consider the civil union of two people of the same sex even
though they may love each other, as this does not fall within a biblical
view of the marriage relationship and therefore falls outside our
authority from God.
-
- Please contact the
Vicar for more information. See the contacts page.
-
-
- Divorce
is common in our society now and emotionally very painful for all
concerned. Many couples leave it far too late before seeking help and
advice to rescue their relationship.
-
- We
encourage people to find early support as they begin to struggle with
difficulties in their relationship.
-
- We can
also offer support and encouragement for those who have left it too late.
-
- Please
contact the Vicar in complete confidence.
-
- Anglican Literacy
Programme
-
- To help encourage literacy in primary
schools. Volunteer adults go into schools to listen to children read at
the request of the school. A number of our congregation volunteer in
this way and we are always looking for more adults to act as volunteers.
We are also open to hear from more schools who would like help from this
valuable literacy support programme.
-
- See our contacts page for leaders
details.

-
- We provide regular
communion services in all the Rest Home facilities in Levin and visit on
request. We also participate in Sunday afternoon worship services in
many of the Rest Homes. If you or a relative are moving into one of the
Rest Homes in Levin and would like to keep up your contact with a church
and possibly receive communion then please do get in contact with Rev
Don Nicholas. See details on the contacts page.
