PRAYER
-
Prayer Evenings
-
We generally meet together on the 3rd Tuesday evening in the month in the Lady
Chapel at St. Mary’s Church at 7.30pm—9pm about two weeks before the Vestry so
that we can pray for the life and ministry of the church and for specific things
happening in the life of the church that month. We also pray for the sick, the
community and for some world events.
-
-
Prayer Ministry
-
Prayer for any need, or a
thanksgiving, is offered to you by a prayer team at the Altar rail during
Communion at the 9.00 a.m. Sunday Service.
There is also an offer of healing prayer at the Altar rail at each first
Wednesday of the month at the 10am service.
-
-
For ongoing prayer need – contact the
Prayer Chain, or for personal concerns beyond these times contact:-
-
The
Vicar, Assistant Priest or Parish Visitor.
(See Admin...Staff.)

Prayer Chain
-
This service is offered by
approximately 20 church members who each pray for people that are in crisis,
i.e. illness, marriage problems, teen worries, or any other help that can be
helped by prayer.
-
-
The person asking for prayer, contacts
Joan and she then contact 3 others, who each pass on the request to one other
and so it goes on down the chain.
-
-
Consent
is obtained from the person for whom the request is made (or parents) and we are
given some idea of the prayer need i.e. successful operation, comfort from
grief, recovery from illness, peace and comfort in any time of trouble. We only
ask for a Christian name so that a person’s privacy is kept, as in a lot of
cases the person is only on the chain for approx. 2 – 3 weeks, but extensions to
this can be kept going.

-
The Order of St. Luke.
-
This
Order believes in and promotes the healing ministry of Jesus Christ through
personal prayer, meetings for Scriptural study and Prayer and Healing services
in different churches. It is
International and Ecumenical, but the Levin Chapter has been closely associated
with St. Mary’s for many years. The group meets weekly in a home but there is a
pot luck tea meeting every 4th
Wednesday of the month in St. Mary’s Lounge – 5.45 pm to 8.00 pm.
-
Vivien
Christian is our convener.
